  • BUSINESS & MILITARY AFFAIRS COORDINATOR

Rachel Turner-Bensen joins the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber as the Business and Military Affairs Coordinator.  The spouse of a USMC Veteran, Rachel has worked amongst the military and veteran population in the JBLM community for nearly a decade.

First, as a Family Programs Specialist with the United States Army Reserve then supporting the Army OneSource Initiative as the Northwest Regional Manager, concentrating on advocacy for military veterans and their families, by bringing awareness of the unique challenges impacting transitioning and “geographically dispersed” military and veteran populations throughout the Pacific Northwest.  It was also during her time with the Army OneSource Initiative Rachel was involved with the launch of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership.

Prior to the time she was working in direct support of the Army, her professional endeavors were concentrated in various municipal and county government organizations as a rural municipal court administrator then a social worker establishing care plans for elderly and vulnerable adults.

When Rachel isn’t “on the road or in the air supporting the troops” she and her husband are most likely at a baseball diamond anywhere throughout the South Sound watching their three teenaged sons play baseball.  Born and raised in rural northern Idaho she is a graduate of the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) and also enjoys serving as an Alumni volunteer for the University of Idaho mentoring emerging leaders.
