Celebrating Andrea H. Reay’s Leadership and Impact

9/24/2025

Reay is beginning a new chapter at the Washington Hospitality Association. We celebrate the lasting impact she has made in the South Sound business community.
Career transitions open the door to fresh opportunities, and we’re excited to see Andrea H. Reay take the next step in her journey with a new organization.

During her tenure as Chamber President & CEO, Reay made significant contributions within the business community that uplifted the Chamber’s mission of advocating for business-friendly policies and fostering a thriving South Sound.

Highlights of her leadership include:

  • Organizational Excellence: The Chamber launched streamlined policies and procedures and has been nationally recognized for this work in organizational management, communications, and programming.
  • Economic Development: The Chamber established a well-rounded entrepreneurial ecosystem featuring three primary programs:
    • The Pierce County Business Accelerator which gives the region’s BIPOC, veteran, and women-owned businesses access to training, support, and resources.
    • Launching the Tacoma Manufacturing Incubator in alignment with the state’s goals to double manufacturing within the next 10 years by developing manufacturing spaces, creating workforce development pathways, and supporting legacy manufacturers.
    • Integrating the creative economy – which accounts for nearly 20% of Washington state’s economy – via Spaceworks which provides artists and creative entrepreneurs with business training, mentorship, and access to vacant commercial spaces in Tacoma.
  • Advocacy: Furthering the Chamber’s position as a hub for key stakeholder and coalition building as we move forward with proactive strategies to support a thriving business environment.

At the heart of Reay’s legacy is the belief that we are stronger together as a community and it will continue to guide us as we enter this next chapter.

We’re excited to watch Reay share her enthusiasm, passion, and light as she shines in her new role. We look forward to collaborating again in the future as she brings her integrity and passion to her new role at the Washington Hospitality Association.

The Board of Directors is pleased to share that Andrea Reay, our President and Chief Executive Officer for the past three years, has accepted the role of Government Affairs Director at Washington State Hospitality Association.

We’re incredibly proud of the work the Chamber achieved during Andrea's tenure:

  • Membership Growth: Chamber membership grew from 1,200 to 1,400 with retention above 85 percent.

The Board is working with Andrea to outline a transition plan, and the Board has appointed a Transition Committee to support the Chamber, our members, and employees.

Classes Begin for the 2025 Business Leadership Academy

9/23/2025

Picture
We are excited to welcome the 2025 class of the Business Leadership Academy (BLA), a joint program between the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber and Pacific Lutheran University. For 47 years, this program has inspired and developed leaders across our region, preparing them to create lasting impact in their organizations and communities.

This year’s leaders come from a wide variety of industries and professional backgrounds. What unites them is a shared commitment to learning, growth, and the responsibility of leadership. Throughout the eight-week cohort, participants will dive into thought-provoking conversations, connect with inspiring leaders, and discover new perspectives on what it means to lead. They’ll share ideas, challenge themselves in fresh ways, and build meaningful relationships that will carry beyond the program. The Academy is as much about personal growth as it is about professional development. It creates a space for reflection, inspiration, and collaboration.

We look forward to following the journey of the 2025 class as they learn, collaborate, and grow into the next generation of leaders for our region.

10 Reasons to Apply for the Spotlight on Business Awards

9/2/2025

Picture
The Spotlight on Business Awards is a program run by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber that recognizes and celebrates our region's best in business.
The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber is looking for the change-makers, the innovators, and the problem solvers. The small businesses doing big things to drive growth and ingenuity and those that are championing for a better business climate tomorrow. The 2025 Spotlight on Business Awards celebrate organizations that strengthen Pierce County through leadership, innovation, creativity, and community. Applications are open through October 1, 2025.
What’s New

The Spotlight on Business Awards build on the Chamber’s long tradition of celebrating local business excellence, but 2025 introduces a sharper focus and an updated process. In past years, award categories highlighted broad measures based on ownership and general business achievement. This year, the program has been redesigned to better reflect the diversity and innovation of Pierce County’s economy.

The new categories—Civic Leader, Industrial Innovator, Creative Champion, Force Multiplier, and Environmental Steward—recognize businesses that are not only driving revenue but also shaping the community through leadership, creativity, and sustainability. The process has also been streamlined: businesses can now apply in up to five categories, with honorees selected by a distinguished panel of regional leaders. Every winner receives a Chamber membership and expanded visibility opportunities, making the program more accessible and impactful than ever before.

From exciting networking opportunities to brand exposure, read on for the top reasons why businesses all over the region are best served by attaining one of our exclusive new awards.
Here are 10 Reasons You Should Apply

1. Gain Regional Recognition
Stand out as one of Pierce County’s top businesses. Honorees are spotlighted in Chamber communications, regional media, and at one of the year’s most anticipated business events.

2. Elevate Your Brand
Finalists and honorees receive ongoing visibility through press releases, social media, the Chamber’s newsletter, Currents, and on our website. Plus, if you win, you'll receive a digital badge and certificate to showcase your achievement.

3. Build Credibility
Winning an award signals to customers, partners, and investors that your business is innovative, resilient, and committed to excellence.

4. Strengthen Your Network
Finalists and honorees are invited to exclusive networking opportunities, including a meet-and-greet with our special guest keynote speaker at our Annual Meeting and access to exclusive Chamber events.

5. Highlight Your Team
Spotlighting your business is also about celebrating the people behind it. Recognition boosts morale and validates your employees’ hard work.

6. Unlock New Opportunities
Award winners are prioritized for speaking engagements at Chamber events and receive invitations to share their stories with local business leaders.

7. Shape Your Business Narrative
From civic leadership to environmental stewardship, these awards amplify the impact your business is making in the community.

8. Compete Across Categories
Businesses can apply in up to five categories: Civic Leader, Industrial Innovator, Creative Champion, Force Multiplier, and Environmental Steward. Apply in the areas that best reflect your strengths and showcase your talents for future clients and partners.

9. Enjoy Exclusive Chamber Benefits
Every winner receives a one-year paid membership to the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber, unlocking access to networking, resources, and advocacy on behalf of your business.
