This past Monday, July 31st, our Chamber participated in a roundtable event focused on child care and early learning in Washington. Lack of affordable, accessible child care continues to be a top issue for employers and workers in our state. According to the Association for Washington Business, a shortage of affordable child care is "consistently ranked as one of the top ten issues facing Washington employers, and 13% report it’s the number one issue."
This event was part of a statewide bus tour launched by AWB to promote child care and early learning throughout Washington. The tour is part of the Legislator Education and Action Project (LEAP), a collaboration between the AWB Institute and the Children’s Campaign Fund Action. The goal of the roundtable was to "educate elected officials, policymakers, business leaders and stakeholders about early learning and child care" as well as to "gather information about the state of child care in Washington to share in a report after the tour." Thank you to AWB for leading this informative, important event and for choosing our Chamber to host a roundtable on this tour. Our Chamber looks forward to being part of the effort to find solutions to child care access in Washington. Comments are closed.
