Celebrating Tacoma’s Creative Small Business Community

A Block Full of Local Talent

South 11th and Fawcett came alive on September 19 as Tacoma’s creative and small business community gathered for an afternoon of music, food, shopping, and connection. The Triple Grand Opening brought together three Spaceworks Tacoma alumni who recently opened their businesses along the block, creating an opportunity to celebrate their growth while shining a light on the other local businesses that make the neighborhood special.

Celebrating Three Spaceworks Alumni

The event celebrated the openings of Civic Roasters, Hive Provisions, and Tacoma Knife, all founded by Spaceworks alumni. Their new storefronts represented another exciting milestone in their entrepreneurial journeys and highlighted the continued growth of Tacoma’s creative business community.

More Than Three Grand Openings

While the afternoon centered around the three new businesses, the celebration also highlighted the other small businesses on South 11th. McCoy Kids, Lauda, Ninth Tentacle Tattoo, and Buzzerds Barbershop each brought their own unique offerings to the block, from curated toys and stationery to custom tattoos and barbering services. Together, these businesses showcased the creativity and variety that make Tacoma’s neighborhood business districts so vibrant.

Bringing the Community Together

The block party created space for neighbors, customers, and fellow business owners to connect and support one another. Attendees enjoyed an afternoon of local food, music, shopping, and community while discovering the businesses that call South 11th home.

Supporting Tacoma’s Small Businesses

The Triple Grand Opening was more than a celebration of three new storefronts. It was a reminder of what can happen when local entrepreneurs invest in their ideas, neighborhoods, and community. By coming together to celebrate these businesses and the seven local businesses featured throughout the event, South 11th offered a snapshot of the creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit that continue to shape Tacoma.
