June 2024 Ambassador Highlight: Jenny Tharp

We love our ambassador team and are very grateful to have their support! Our Chamber ambassadors are an extension of the Chamber staff, allowing our members to have more points of contact. We want to highlight each ambassador as a 'thank you' for their continued support and dedication that they put into the ambassador team.

We asked each ambassador a set of questions in an effort to become better acquainted and get a preview of their life outside of ambassador work. Our ambassador highlight for June is Jenny Tharp, an amazing lady and ambassador. She is never seen without a smile on her face, and you can always count on her to brighten your day!

Life as an Ambassador

Jenny has been a Chamber ambassador for a little over a year now, and she was voted as Chair of the Ambassador Team by her fellow ambassadors only a few months into her ambassadorship! This is a testament to how strong of a leader Jenny is. Since her term expired, she now holds the Vice-Chair role for the team.

​"Being a chamber ambassador allows me to witness firsthand the invaluable contributions of our chamber and deepens my appreciation for local businesses. It's a rewarding experience to see the positive impact we have on the community and to be part of fostering strong business connections."

Jenny took to being an ambassador very quickly and has proven time and again that her dedication to being an ambassador never wavers. If she had to pick three words to describe ambassadorship, she’d choose, “Rewarding, Connected and Inspiring”.

Life Outside of Being an Ambassador

Outside of Ambassador life, Tharp is a Business Services Officer with Sound Credit Union, a loyal Chamber member since 1982. Jenny somehow manages to cover Auburn, Bonney Lake, Downtown Tacoma, Federal Way, Gig Harbor, Graham, Kent, Key Center, Lakewood, Parkland, Puyallup, Olympia, Pac Ave, and Westgate!

If you don’t catch her at one of these many cities, you can catch her chilling by her pool watching her little grandbabies running around or serving burgers and ‘dogs on the grill surrounded by her loving family. Mr. and Mrs. Tharp are known to get up before the sun to head out on the water to catch fish; something they enjoy doing throughout the Puget Sound. Tharp also worked hard to become a Longshoreman, which she was able to achieve all whilst being a wife, mom, ‘Mimi’, Business Services Officer, and Chamber Ambassador.

​Jenny looks forward to being a part of the Ambassador team for years to come, and hopes to, “establish a feedback portal to gather insights from ambassadors and members to ensure the chamber and ambassador program continually evolve. [And] continue to offer enhanced training programs to us to help assist the members with the skills and knowledge of our various tools and programs”.

The Chamber is looking forward to collaborating with Tharp to make these goals come to fruition and we extend our gratitude to her for being a wonderful, hard-working, dedicated Chamber Ambassador.
