Manufacturing Industrial Council ENSURING ECONOMIC VITALITY
The Manufacturing Industrial Council for the South Sound is the voice for the manufacturing, industrial, and maritime community.
We promote and enhance a positive business climate for manufacturing and related industries. We are dedicated to safeguarding and improving people’s lives, creating a sustainable environment, and providing the jobs that anchor Washington’s economy.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
To ensure that the South Sound provides a globally competitive environment for the manufacturing sector of the economy, the MIC is guided by these principles:
Creating and maintaining family-wage jobs, providing job training and education programs, and lowering the South Sound unemployment rate are community imperatives;
A healthy South Sound economy means supporting our shared values of economic prosperity, environmental protection, social equity and public safety;
The South Sound should preserve available employment sites to support jobs that make our way of life possible;
A taxation system that promotes capital investment and research and development activities will help keep manufacturing jobs in the South Sound;
Energy policies should respect Washington’s unique environmental factors, infrastructure and market conditions, and foster reliable, sustainable and affordable energy supplies;
A cost-effective and predictable regulatory environment is essential to facilitating business operations and keeping compliance costs manageable;
Improving employer access to highly skilled employees by supporting strong accountability measures, innovative management techniques, enhanced academic rigor, and efficient use of resources to improve education throughout Washington state is vital to our economic and social well-being.
